In the land of unlimited possibilities, the Ford F-150 has been the undisputed leader in US sales for 35 years. In the year 2016 approximately 800,000 copies were brought to the man or the woman. Three years after the launch of the current model, the bestseller pick-up is now undergoing an extensive update, which will be shown at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit (January 8-22, 2017).
Refreshed optics with new equipment details
The ladder frame base made of high-strength steels as well as the aluminum bodywork (both made the F-150 easier) are already known. Innovations for the 2018 version are, on the other hand, optical: depending on the equipment line, there are new radiator grills, new headlights as well as new rear lamps and new bumpers. In addition, you can choose from the configuration of six new wheel designs. Between 17 and 22 inches everything is possible here. New interior colors are added to the interior, and Carbon is also available for the interior applications of the sports models.
Extensive technical update
The F-150 is not only missing a new look, it is also smarter: the pick-up is equipped with an adaptive cruise control or a collision warning system including pedestrian detection. Other technical features include the latest infotainment system called SYNC3 (with Wifi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a 360-degree camera, a tracking assistant, and a dead-angle warner.
New entry-level gasoline and for the first time with diesel
In future, six different units will be used for propulsion: the 2.7-liter EcoBoost-V6, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost-V6 (in two different performance levels) and the 5.0-liter V8 aspirator 3.3-liter V6 entry-level benzine with 286 hp and 346 newton-meters of torque were added to the program. He will replace the old 3.5-liter V6 vacuum cleaner with the same power. In addition to the Ottomotoren for the first time in the F-150 history also a 3.0-liter diesel under the hood, for which so far no further technical data were mentioned. All engines are coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Market launch, price and the way to Europe
The launch of the US market is planned for autumn 2017. Prices are not yet known. Officially, however, the revised F-150 will not come to Europe either. If you still want to have one, only the way to the importer remains.
