More power for the top golf

Tags

Until a few months ago, the world was still in order. With 300 hp and all-wheel drive, the Golf R was the undisputed cock in the basket of sporty group compacts. Then came the Golf GTI Clubsport S. He has not only ten horsepower more and an epic Nürburgring-lap record, but also, according to experts, the fun driving dynamics. Meanwhile even the Seat Leon Cupra is swollen to 300 hp (and 4-wheel at the Kombi ST), the Audi S3 has since the last facelift even 310 hp. The time has come for the Golf R to refine. And that is exactly what he does now.

Something stronger, slightly faster
From the outside you can see the Golf R Facelift at a discreetly optimized front with aggressive modeled air inlets and a somewhat more concise central air grille. Of course, he will also benefit from the reworked interior with a new 9.2-inch display with gesture control. Much more interesting, however, is what has done under the hood. Well, it is not too much, but as expected the 2.0-liter turbo now also in the Golf R 310 hp and 400 Newtonmeter. These are ten hp and 20 newton meters more than before. The 0-100 km / h value is shortened analogously to 4.6 seconds. Whether this value was measured with DSG or manual circuitry is unknown. Previously, the R as a switch needed 5.1 seconds, with DSG it was 4.9. The consumption is given by VW with 7.0 liters.

Price increase inclusive
The prices for the Golf R 2017 start at 40.675 euros for the three-door manual transmission. That is 1,175 euros more than before. The Golf R Variant, which of course is also equipped with all facelift measures, now costs at least € 44,800 with DSG. The laureate top model is now available. The market launch is probably in March 2017.
