Attacked: Aston Martin DB11 Volante

Tags

In the cold season it is difficult to get used to a convertible and its advantages. Especially if you are traveling in the far north of Scandinavia. Exactly there, however, our Erlkönig photographer now has a new top-without-model in front of the lens. And as it seems, you want to prepare for an upcoming convertible season at Aston Martin.

Drive technology as with the Coupé
As can easily be seen, the pictures show an open version of the DB11, which has been on the market since September 2016 as a coupe. Under the hood of the DB9 successor, a new V12 with twin turbocharging is used. As a result of forced ventilation, 608 hp and 700 newton meters of torque are emitted from the unit. This power reaches the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Why these numbers and data are also important here? Because the convertible with the addition of the name "Volante" will rely on the same drive technology.

A cloth roof! No weight gain?
The difference to the closed DB11? The fabric roof, which is visible on the Erlkönigaufnahmen. How fast it will open or close, whether there will be more colors than the black to be seen here and whether the fresh air pleasure can only be achieved by a weight increase (the coupe brings it to 1,770 kilograms), is not yet known. There is also no information about possible driving performance. The coupe sprints to 100 km in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 322 km / h.

Price and market launch
Let us come to the last two variables to be clarified: price and market launch. The latter is announced (clearly visible on the vehicle side) by Aston Martin himself. The open DB11-Pleasure will therefore only start the next cabriolet season in the spring of 2018. And the price? In the predecessor model, the price difference between Coupe and Volante was 15,000 euros. Since a DB11 Coupé currently costs 204,900 euros, the Volante entry price should be around 220,000 euros.
