Electricity is a disgrace

What a disgrace: In September 2016, the Bundestag decided to elect the electric bill. According to 400,000-born cars, it should be concluded that the greyhound procedure applies: first come first served. Now it turns out that the greyhounds have no desire to run. The competent Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) now announced that as of January 1, 2017, only 9.023 applications had been received.

The most popular are BMW i3 and Renault Zoe
Of the applications, 57 percent refer to electric cars, the rest to plug-in hybrids. With 1,567 applications the most popular is the BMW i3, followed by Renault Zoe (1,575 applications) and the Audi A3 e-tron (1,188 applications). The manufacturers are BMW, Renault and Audi in front, VW as the largest car manufacturer in Germany is only fourth. Most applications were submitted in the "rich" federal states of Bavaria (2,232 applications) and Baden-Württemberg (1,743 applications), with Audi, BMW and Mercedes. About half of the applicants are private individuals, the other half are companies.

High cost and low range
The overall low demand is probably due to the still inadequate charging infrastructure, which is often still low range and the high prices of the vehicles: A VW e-Up for example costs 26.900 euro, while it already the comparatively comparable VW Up 1.0 TSI from 12,350 euros - so the electric model is twice as expensive. At this price difference also the electroprämie and the lower travel costs little help.

Also Tesla Model S and Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell
The purchase premium of 4,000 euros for electric cars and 3,000 euros for plug-in hybrid vehicles is funded jointly by the federal government and manufacturers. Luxury cars beyond 60,000 euros New price like the Tesla Model S, the BMW i8 or the Audi Q7 e-tron will not benefit the premium. The fact that the basic model of the model S (69,019 euros) nevertheless is promoted, is by a trick: Tesla has moved some equipment into an extra package so that the new price fell below 60,000 euros. The fuel cell vehicle Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell, which is actually at least 65,450 euros, can also be promoted. In all, the BAFA list of eligible vehicles includes 100 items, although different equipment is also included. The city van Nissan e-NV200 alone is already 15 positions. The premium is granted until June 2019, if the conveyor is not empty before - but this is hardly to be expected if it continues as before.
