Anyone who has visions should go to the doctor, who has a defect, could fly to Las Vegas. At the CES electronics fair there (5 to 8 January 2017) there are enough future presentations to be seen. Mercedes will be demonstrating what the company strategy CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Service and Electric Drive) will be. The future is followed by megatrends networking, autonomous driving, flexible usage models and electric drives.
Concept EQ and Vision Van
Specifically, Mercedes shows two studies: the electric SUV known as the Paris E-Car Salon 2016, the Concept EQ and the van, also presented in autumn, called Vision Van. What is new is "Fit & Healthy", a vision of how to connect health consciousness with the mobility of the future - that could be something like an e-bike or a pedal with hybrid drive. Exhibits on artificial intelligence and the connection of the vehicle to the "Smart Home" provide further insights into Mercedes research. The partnemarke Smart also presents the new service "smart ready to share" without revealing what this could be. A normal car sharing probably not, because Car2Go has already been present in the USA since 2012.
Källenius: "Mobility will change"
At the show, Ola Källenius will have his first appearance as a new chief designer of Mercedes. "Our concept of mobility will change more strongly in the next five to ten years than in the 50 years before," says Källenius, who will be in office in January 2017.
